This never happens--so the fact that it did meant I had to find an internet connection and report about it.

The Race For Red is a 5k (and a 1 mile fun run) put on by Intermountain Healthcare/Utah Valley Regional Medical Center's Heart and Vascular Services to promote a heart-healthy lifestyle. It's a fun little race.

I had rolled my ankle earlier in the week on a trail run and the joint and muscle soreness from that stuck with me through Friday. I figured the 5k would end up being an easy, fun run with a finish line.

The jog over to the start, however, was discomfort-free so I figured I might as well 'rub some funk on it,' as it were...

3 miles at a pretty consistent 7:41/7:42 and a faster final .1 put me at a 7:39 average pace--at least that's what the Garmin said. RunnerCard officially gave me an average pace of 7:43.

But the important part to all of this is that in my age division, I was the fastest! Today, I reign supreme!!! 2nd place in the division was 5 minutes slower.

WaHOOOO!!!! CONGRATULATIONS on the AG win!!! Yah, baby, you reigned supreme, hands down!!! :) :) :)

My bro-in-law from Hong Kong happened to be in town, so he ran it with his son who's going to BYU. I don't know his time and he left that afternoon for his flight to NYC.

Anyhow, wow! you did awesome!!! hope I see you at Ogden! :)

So are you running Ogden then, Smooth? For dome reason I thought Boston was your last before heading out to the mission field... I will definitely be looking for you.

Thanks for the moral support today! It was so nice to have a buddy during those last few miles! Recover well!
