Hey Brad!!! Welcome to the blog. I was just browsing the web on my new cell phone and saw your name. Very cool!!!

Ran an "easy" 4 at work during lunch (8:28 pace).  The calf/tendon issue wasn't a problem during the run, but it was a bit tight the following morning.

Brad --

I had NO IDEA that you are on here!!!! I am so excited!!! How did I miss it???

Nice job on your lunch miles.

Sorry about the calf/tendon. Take care of that baby!!! :)

Seriously ... so excited that you are here!!!

Thanks guys, it's nice to be here! Haven't quite got navigating this site down yet, but I'm working on it.

Great job man. Sorry to hear your having calf issues. Hope that clears up soon. Glad to see you are loggen some miles though. And it was good to chat with you briefly the other day.

From MarcE on Thu, Nov 19, 2009 at 22:24:11 from 206.225.68.25

Welcome, Brad..now we can chat on Facebook, ForumFlyers, and on FastRunningBlog!! Woohoo. I hope the calf gets better for you soon..stretching..hmmm..I should try some of that.

4.1 miles on the Provo River Trail (same as Monday), but just a bit faster--8:25 pace (Monday was a 8:28 pace).  Calf and tendons felt OK--I think a good stretching pre and post run has been very beneficial.

Hey Brad!!! WELCOME to the blog!!!

NICE run and good reminder for the stretching!!!

LOVE your avatar!

From Maynard on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 19:38:35 from 159.212.71.200

Thanks Smooth--it's the beautiful, flowing lock's, isn't it. :)

Compression socks/sleeves for the calves--any body here got any recommendations and/or suggestions?

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 19:43:44 from 174.23.240.142

Yep, the beautiful, flowing locks and the COOL red sunglasses that matches the RED HOT shorts!

Don't know much about compression socks. But I remember Andy wearing them at Park City last year. He might be able to shed some thoughts on that. I like CWX tights during winter months. They have fantastic muscle supports built right in for the key muscles, knees, quads and calves.

From Huans32 on Thu, Nov 19, 2009 at 07:01:15 from 67.182.192.209

I have worn the socks and like them except for how thin the foot part is. Making them slick to wear. So I have to put on a 2nd pair of socks. I would like to try the sleeves so I can wear just one pair of socks. But they sure feel weird at first. But seem to really help. I had no cramps in my calves at SG with them.:)

Great run btw.

Sciatic was giving me fits down the left leg today, but I don't know if it was that or the shoes coming to the end of their lifespan that slowed me down.  Only ran an 8:45 average pace, which I'm not really complaining about other than it's off the sub 8:30's I've been seeing this week.  No calf/tendon issue today.  :)

Had to put in a run today so the comments from yesterday's misguided report were attached to something--even if it was the wrong run.  Anyways...

Four miles at home just as the sun was setting.  Quite chilly!  8:34 average pace.  Not too bad.  No sciatica and no calf/tendon tightness or pain.  My happy!

I glad to find your blog.

Maynard, What is up with this? -

"There is absolutely nothing special about me."

"I've run 41 marathons and completed a few ultra's...."

I'm clueless but I would think it takes a special person to run 41 marathons! Doesn't this qualify you for an I'm special tattoo? :)

Respectfully,

Fly

Must have been in a somewhat self-deprecatory mood when I entered that info... But other than what you said, I've got nothin'! ;)

From DonGardinero on Fri, Nov 20, 2009 at 21:12:38 from 152.216.7.5

Sorry about the sciatica acting up. I know that feeling. Go get some new shoes.

From Smooth on Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 00:43:41 from 174.23.240.142

Hey Brad!!! Sorry the sciatica's not behaving! Your shoes mileage tracker look decent to me! May be it's the weather. It seems to take longer to warm up these days. I notice you pre-logged your run for Sat. Nov 21. May be that's the problem! Hehe! :D

From Maynard on Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 11:26:46 from 71.213.7.136

Hey Smooth! Wassup? The shoes I was wearing aren't on my shoe tracker--if it ends up that the shoes are part of the problem, I'm going to retire them. But I don't think I've got more than 250 miles on 'em so I hope it's not the shoes.

As for the pre-logging--I don't know what I was thinking. I've moved the workout to the 20th, but all the comments related to it remain here, attached to nothing. Oh well.

From fly on the Wall on Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 12:00:09 from 166.70.192.189

Just make sure you actually run some miles on the 21st and all will be well.

I hate the cold for the first few weeks and then I really love it much more that the heat of summer!

From Huans32 on Wed, Nov 25, 2009 at 17:00:31 from 138.64.2.76

Hope your tigntness starts to lessen some for you. Makes for a tough run. I have been thinking about what we talked about. That buffalo run in Mar. Were you think of doing the 50k or 50 miles then??

From Maynard on Wed, Nov 25, 2009 at 17:19:09 from 159.212.71.25

Smooth & Kathie: Love running in the winter--especially in the snow. The cold and knees are just part of the price you pay I guess. When it gets so cold that I don the tights, it's not so bad.

Huans: I'm planning on the 50k. 50 miles is just too much. :

From Teena on Wed, Nov 25, 2009 at 17:21:51 from 174.52.45.85

Happy Thanksgiving!

5 1/4 miles at lunch today with my buddy Donald.  Donald is slower than me so we ran at a 9:15 pace.  Ran in the shoes that I thought might be getting on in miles, but they felt pretty good today--no issues whatsoever.  It's good to run with someone once in a while.

December and being one of those accounting types results in little time for running.  My last run was on Thanksgiving morning.  Oh well, here I am again.

6.25 miles along the Provo River Trail (PRT) in sub-freezing temps--I LOVE IT!!  The only thing I can envision that would have made today's run better would have been falling snow.  Teena, even you would have enjoyed it.

Anyways, 6.25 miles, 54:32, 8:44 average pace.  The temp, according to Central Bank, was 19°--I may need to invest in some better cold-weather-clothes.  And a tuque--any tuque will do.

I LOVE running in fresh snow. I don't mind the cold...just NOT the slippery black ice and stiff wind! Have a GREAT week! Have fun "investing" in cold gear!

Teena, I went running today.  Went 6.25 in 52:50.4 for an 8:27 average pace on the Provo River Trail.  No snow but it did sprinkle on me a bit.  The trail was littered with patches of ice and water puddles here and there but I ran with reckless abandon anyways.  My glad it's over.
